Enabling Quantum Computing over the Cloud

Enabling Quantum Computing over the Cloud

Quantum computing has recently become a topic that has captured the minds and imagination of a much wider audience. It is clear that the field of quantum computing has moved from proof of principle demonstrations towards emerging as a real technology. It is an exciting time as theory, experiments, quantum software, and quantum hardware are merging into one towards the genesis of the first quantum computing stack. A large part of accelerating this effort has been the ability to provide the resource of access to quantum computers over the Cloud. In May 2016, we launched the IBM Q Experience, placing a rudimentary quantum computer on the Cloud for anyone to access. Since then, we have been able to drive its further development and use within a flourishing open source ecosystem.

Play the Champions League: Learn about the secret tactics of Pleskians on how to win the Hosting battle

M&A is one option to ‘grow’ a hosting business. Evolving from a generalist who continues to offer basic shared hosting or cheap VPS plans to a specialist who understands todays customer needs and builds targeted solution offerings is another one. Numbers don’t lie – there are over 1 billion websites worldwide and this number is steadily growing. Hosting became a commodity on one hand but also a necessary evil for a growing audience of end customers on the other hand. More than 29% of all websites in the world are built with WordPress, everything still starts with a domain and each site needs a server to run on. But WordPress users don’t care about infrastructure. Specialised hosters as well as public cloud providers got that message and are on the growth path. So what? Join the Plesk team and see that simplifying the lives of web professionals is easier than you think. Coach Jan will tell you how your infrastructure expertise bundled with Plesk technology will enable you to win the cup and become a champion!

CPL24: Simply SPLA. Simply Compliant.

Ralph W. Emerson, Harvard philosopher, once said: “to be simple is to be great”. This simple truth best describes the CPL24 asset management solution for hoster and cloud service providers (CSP’s). For years hoster and CSP’s have been facing the ever more complex task of cost effective, compliant asset management. The CPL24 solution was specifically developed for the compliant SPLA reporting and asset management requirements of the datacenter, hosting and CSP markets. CPL24: • has multi-tenancy capabilities • manages Microsoft, Oracle, IBM, VM-Ware, Linux assets • has automated Microsoft SPLA reporting, saving up to 90% of reporting efforts • delivers audit proof SPLA compliance Verifying its capabilities, CPL24 is worldwide the first and to date the only SPLA asset management solution to receive the joint KPMG / Microsoft SAM for Hosting audit certificate.

WordPress on Shared Hosting: Plague or Opportunity?

WordPress on Shared Hosting: Plague or Opportunity?

Stats show that WordPress powers 30% of the Internet, but many hosting companies report more than half of their hosting accounts have at least one WordPress instance installed. Most of them are not updated regularly. This mono-culture of outdated websites has become the hackers favorite target and it causes a lot of trouble to website owners and hosting companies: extensive support load, constant delisting, not to mention the infrastructure cost of spam - just to mention a few. But WordPress is also a huge market opportunity for those who now how to monetize it. This presentation is aimed at every CEO or product manager who want to make an extra dollar a month on every WordPress installed on their hosting while getting rid of pain caused by the abundance of this CMS.

Immersion Cooling to power the Next Generation Datacenter

To keep up with the rapid growth of our Digital Economy, Data centers and cloud providers already consume 3% of the global electricity and generate 2% of the global CO2 emissions. Yet, this frenetic growth is increasing cooling energy costs and shrinking profits. At the same time, data centres are struggling to adapt to customer demand for more affordable colocation and hosting services, not to mention comply with upcoming EU Green Data Centre regulations. To solve this critical problem, Submer brings you revolutionary liquid immersion cooling tech that saves up to 99% of cooling costs, representing 45% of the electricity bill and 75% of the space to any IT infrastructure, hardware and application (hosting, colocation, HPC, research, cryptocurrency mining…).

GDPR and Domains: Is the Hype Justified?

The European Union’s General Data Protection Regulation, commonly referred to as the GDPR, has sent waves of concern across the domain industry with some experts predicting the end of Whois. Scaling web services; Instant resharding of NoSQL databases running on abstracted, networked flash

Scaling web services; Instant resharding of NoSQL databases running on abstracted, networked flash

Microservices Architecture is the workhorse of the web.  Stateless microservices are lightweight, self-contained, and simple, and can be scaled up or down at a moment’s notice. They power exciting new web-service enterprises, and are the foundation of the largest-scale applications running in both public and private clouds.  But no application is truly stateless – and behind every successful “stateless” layer stands a solid, direct attached scale-out database.   And until now, that’s been the problem. Scale out databases hold a lot of data, and data has gravity.  While the stateless front end can be scaled by starting more instances, it’s not so easy on the back side – more instances means moving data around; a lot of it.  This presentation will describe how new storage technology from Toshiba solves this problem by virtualizing and optimally managing networked flash in cloud architectures, and allowing databases to scale as quickly and easily as the services they support.  In addition, this technology will be demonstrated in the Toshiba booth.

Clouds are where everyone turns these days for elastic resources. But each and every time a certain cloud is chosen. In turn, you get your certain specialized Cloud API. Red Hat products are the ideal abstraction that allows you to use the same API to deal with your App in all the major clouds. This talk will sketch a reasonable approach on how to adopt the new cloud paradigm. We talk about Dev and Ops and DevOps, about organizational changes and Software Lifecycle automation. About CI/CD in Dev and in Production. And we touch on Containers and our OpenShift Kubernetes Distribution. We will talk about speed and security.

Communication against the machine - who's winning?

Communication against the machine - who's winning?

There will be 100 trillion instant messages and 293.6 billion emails sent world-wide by the end of 2019. Gartner estimates that the Unified Communications market will grow to $42.4 billion by 2019. However, market research fails to account for the huge business enabled by messaging technology. From payments to personal IDs, the tiny instant message becomes an universal carrier run in ways nobody had even imagined five years ago. Bots are a strong part of the game too. In fact, a lot of messages are not sent by people anymore. Can you afford not to take sides in this war? Where is it going? Whom does AI actually help? Join my keynote to get some answers and the opportunities.

History Repeating Itself – Avoid the Silo

If we look back over the last 4 cycles of computing to the early days of the mainframe and mini we have seen the IT industry continue to create silos. With the emergence of the key hyperscale cloud providers we are seeing these silos being built again around each of the different platforms. This talk will address how the cloud provider can play a major role in helping end user customers to avoid being stuck into a single silo. We will discuss the VMware – AWS partnership and how this will lead to new opportunities for cloud providers.

Powering the future clouds: a inside view from systems research

Storing, moving, and processing data: demands from cloud and cognitive workloads are pushing the limits of technology in all these respects. This presentation will review the most advanced activities pioneered by the IBM Zurich Research lab to: 1) further increase density and lower costs of storage of the two key media of the future, namely flash and tape; introduce support for tape and any high-latency media in object-based storage for long-term archival and backups; leverage artificial intelligence in storage management. 2) further increase the speed and lower the power consumption of I/O links in servers; provide direct access from applications to the fastest network and storage and bypass legacy software stacks. 3) revolutionize processing by introducing new ways to operate on data in-place - no data movement needed anymore.

How to Benefit from SSDs Using NVMe Technology

How to Benefit from SSDs Using NVMe Technology

SSDs have become commonplace in many data centre and enterprise environments, as they provide a significant TCO and ROI benefit in many use cases and applications. Common deployments include High-Performance Computing - by the end of this year, 60 per cent of businesses are forecast to require HPC environments for business-critical operations – as well as streaming large amounts of data. This presentation is intended to discuss how using higher performance NVMe SSDs enables the reduction the footprint of the above-mentioned deployments. By using Kingston’s DCP1000, the amount of physical space required can be significantly reduced, which reduces TCO and increases ROI by a greater factor than the cost of the SSD.

Shifting Perspectives: Nothing "New" about New gTLDs Anymore

It’s been three years since the introduction of nTLDs to the marketplace. And yet, we still look at them as a distinct group, separate from all others (aka legacy TLDs). Does this really make sense? Maybe it’s time for a more useful categorization of TLDs - or simply no categorization at all? In this short presentation, Thorsten will provide some OpenSRS insights and, through a sobering look at numbers, make a case for changing our domain-geek-centered way of thinking about these extensions.

Get the Most Out of Your Existing Infrastructure with LiteSpeed Cache and QUIC

Get the Most Out of Your Existing Infrastructure with LiteSpeed Cache and QUIC

How do you get the most out of your current infrastructure? The number one conclusion people draw when their server’s performance starts to degrade is that they need to change their hardware. However, in doing so, there is an incredible amount of wasted potential in their current server. Install LiteSpeed Cache, and you eliminate the need for constant resource-intensive PHP processes used by WordPress and other web apps. LSCache measurably improves the speed of your sites and greatly reduces the server load for the whole server. In a shared hosting environment, mass deployment of LSCache is simple as 1 2 3. Additionally, LiteSpeed is pioneering the adoption of QUIC, a fast protocol currently being finalized by the IETF. Combine LSCache and QUIC, and witness the true potential of your server!

Demystifying ICANN Accreditation

Demystifying ICANN Accreditation

Every year, scores of Web Services companies, majorly Web Hosts, apply to obtain an ICANN Accreditation for varied reasons ranging from the obvious cost advantages, to the slightly more strategic ones such as branding and leveraging additional revenue opportunities. However, not everyone that applies for an ICANN Accreditation really needs or makes use of it. More importantly, not everyone that applies has what it takes to maintain their Accreditation. How do you determine whether your Web Hosting business should follow the examples set by giants such as 1&1, GoDaddy, Namecheap, Name.com, HostGator, and the likes? Hear about this and more from Eeshaan Satwalekar who heads Business Development at LogicBoxes, the premier ICANN Accreditation consultant and platform provider.

If you listen to Elon Musk or Isaac Asimov, or watch the Terminator movies, you might believe that there’s a lot to fear when it comes to the quickly advancing field of artificial intelligence (AI).  Is that fear justified? Or could it be that the advances being made in AI are going to take technology, including the cloud, to the next level? Cross the uncanny valley into the .COM main.FORUM and open your mind to our keynote speaker, social humanoid robot Sophia. Decide for yourself if she is the future of AI, and our industry.

Trump’s Twitter account for 11 minutes. Since then, he’s been hailed as a hero by some, and people have even nominated him for a Nobel Prize. Internet companies deal with customer service trust & safety takedown requests all the time, but this time the eyes of the entire world were on Twitter, and Duysak.
