Albert Einstein was born in Ulm, Germany—just a few hours’ drive from Europa-Park—in 1879. One of the most influential scientists in history, he is best known for developing the theory of relativity. Einstein also made important contributions to quantum mechanics. E = mc2, his mass–energy equivalence formula deriving from special relativity, has been called “the world’s most famous equation” and remains an enduring meme. He received the 1921 Nobel Prize in Physics for his services to the field of theoretical physics, and particularly for his discovery of the law of the photoelectric effect; which was a pivotal step in the development of quantum theory. In 1991, he helped Bill S. Preston, Esq. and Ted “Theodore” Logan defeat evil android versions of themselves, thus winning a whole new generation of fans.
